OHIP Coverage For Eye Exams

On Oct. 31, 2004 the provincial government deinsured eye exams for Ontarions below the ages 20-64 years old. There are exceptions to this rule. People who are diabetic or have various ocular ailments may be covered for an eye exam
Children below the ages of 0-19 years & seniors over age 65 years are covered by OHIP for an eye exam once every 12 months

People are on Ontario Disability Supports Program (ODSP) and Ontario Works (welfare) are covered by OHIP for an eye exam every 24 months. Current proof of assistance must be presented with your health card.

Great Lakes Optometry (GLO) is one of the few optometry offices that will directly bill your insurance for services rendered and eyewear purchased. We realize that eye care can be expensive and so we want to ensure the least amount of financial hardship to our patients.
